Personal:

I've never been a consistent runner by any means, but I've  always enjoyed it and had a natural talent for it.  When I do run, I'm always running behind my dad...maybe if I keep this up, I can beat him before he's 70 (I am 25 years younger!)

I wanted to run a short run today, before running in a 5 mile race tomorrow, but my legs felt really sore and tired right from the beginning, so with a race tomorrow, I quit early and did some extra stretching after only 2 miles.  I haven't ran that short a distance since I started training in August.

For next week I hope to run something like this:

Mon: 7 miles

Tue: rest

Wed: 10 miles

Thur:7 miles

Fri: rest

Sat: 7 miles

Sun: 15 miles

Total: 46 miles

Great run today.  The first mile my legs felt really tired and I thought how am I going to make it through 10, but I pushed through and by mile 2 or so I started to feel great.  I stopped at 10 miles because that was the plan, and because I didn't want to push myself too far as the shin splint is still lingering.  It was a great run with a great finish and I did it just within a 8 minute mile pace.

Well I am happy to report that the run yesterday went excellent.  I ran 7 miles and had no trouble doing so.  I thought about running further, but I didn't want to hurt my hopefully healing shin splint.  I am taking today off and then running 10 miles tomorrow.

I got home after the run last night and felt great.  I walked half a mile to cool down, and then i got a protien drink and some gatoraid while putting a towel soaked in very hot water on my shin splint, hoping to give it a warm compress for some healing.  The lef still feels fine today, we'll see how tomorrow's run goes...

For the past two weeks or so I have not been active on this site, and unfortunately, it is not because I have been running so much.  I was fighting a shin splint, and started running less, but then I just hardly ran at all for the past two weeks or so.  I only have 7 more weeks until the marathon, and have only ran up to a half marathon so far.  I have a long ways to go and can not afford any more short weeks.  I ran 7 miles today, the furthest in two weeks, and had not troubles!  Luckilly I felt great after the run, and could have ran at least 10, but I didn't want to over work my shin.  It was a good way to start the week and get back into running.  I will hopefully push through the week on the schedule below.  I need to get myself up to a 20 mile run in at least the next 3 or 4 weeks.  I am just refusing to let to the shin splint hold me back anymore...hopefully I don't kill my leg...

Wed:  10 miles

Thur: 7 miles

Fri: 3.5 miles

Sun: 13.1 miles

Week total: 40 miles
